Your role and working environment.
The primary role of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) is to ensure that within organization processes the personal data of its staff, customers, providers or any other individuals (also referred to as data subjects) are in compliance with the applicable data protection rules (next to the other tasks of a DPO as per art. 39 GDPR).
The DPO will engage with the Group DPO Team as well as local Data Protection Executives (First Line of Defense) across ING Luxembourg entities and will also steer and coordinate with a team of experts to safeguard 2nd line end to end responsibility on data protection, managing and mitigating risk. Externally, the Data Protection Officer will function as the spokesperson on the topic of Data Privacy in industry fora with both peer banks as well as other active parties in the space (law firms, regulators).
Your key responsibilities
As DPO
- You ensure that the organization is informed about their data protection rights, obligations and responsibilities and raise awareness about them;
- You give advice and recommendations about the interpretation and application of the data protection rules and our data protection policy;
- You monitor and report on data protection compliance with relevant data protection laws and bank policies and help business management to be accountable in this respect.
- You inform/advise senior management of the bank on the data protection compliance status on a continuous basis and draw their attention to any failure to comply with the applicable data protection rules.
- You collaborate with relevant departments within ING, e.g. CDO, DPE, IRM, ORM, Legal, CISO and other stakeholders regarding data privacy.
- You challenge and monitor Privacy by Design is adequately embedded in the bank.

Your technical skills and track record
As DPO
- You are an experienced senior professional with experience in data protection / privacy management of affinitive work field within a banking environment;
- You have relevant knowledge of information risk management and information security.
- You have relevant knowledge of data privacy laws, developments and ruling.
- You have a university degree or equivalent;
- You have an excellent level of English (verbal/written).
