Data Governance Officer

Our client, an Investment Bank based in Luxembourg, is looking for its future Data Governance Officer for their GR&C-RM Directorate.

This will be a temporary contract of 2 months. Please note that this assignment may be extended, in accordance with Luxembourgish law, for a maximum duration of 1 year.

Your purpose :

Help shape, plan, and apply the Group’s data governance and data management approach within the GR&C-RM Directorate. Your work will ensure that data used across the Bank is trustworthy, well-structured, and easy to access, supporting effective decision-making and a strong data culture.

Your responsabilities :

• Support the creation and rollout of group-wide data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and tools.
• Look into data quality concerns that affect the Directorate and help address them according to operational needs.
• Review project documents to confirm data governance work is properly included and ensure resources are planned accordingly.
• Represent GR&C-RM in interdepartmental working groups and ensure the Directorate’s needs are reflected.
• Define and maintain key business concepts, data elements, and risk indicators used by the Directorate.
• Work closely with business and technical experts to keep metadata accurate and up to date.
• Spot data quality issues, analyse their root causes, and implement corrective and long-lasting improvements.
• Set up, test, monitor, and report on data quality rules and controls.
• Manage IT requests related to data quality changes and ensure they follow the IT release schedule.
• Help determine how data is collected, used, and classified based on its importance for the business.
• Contribute to the way data is structured and documented, and ensure it aligns with the Bank’s broader data environment.
• Promote data governance best practices within the Directorate and support compliance with internal policies.
• Prepare business cases and convert business needs into functional requirements for users.
• Provide guidance to colleagues and share expertise on data-related activities.

Your profile :

• University degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Mathematics, IT, or Information Management.
• Around 3+ years of experience in data governance, data analysis, data management, or similar areas.
• Understanding of banking best practices is a plus, especially topics related to BCBS239.
• Experience or exposure to credit or financial risk is beneficial.
• Knowledge of BI tools, testing, or programming (e.g., SQL, Python) is an asset.
• Ideally some experience in IT project work, such as preparing business cases, project charters, and managing timelines.
• Strong level of English and/or French, with working knowledge of the other. Additional EU languages are an advantage.
