Your next challenge:

As a member of the Strategic Project & Portfolio Management ( SPPM) team, you will be responsible to manage the Bank Projects Portfolio. As such, you will ensure the monitoring of and reporting on the full process from the introduction and arbitration of Project Ideas until the closing out of Projects and Programs while facilitating their deliveries. To guarantee up-to-date and qualitative Portfolio Management processes and deliverables (reporting), you will strongly liaise with and act as a focal point for :

  • Strategy, Regulatory & Supervisory and CIO Office Departments
  • Units Chief Product Owners and Project/ Program sponsors
  • Project/ Program Managers of the different Business Lines


    Within the responsibility of your function, you will:
  • Establish clear and pro-active communication channels to keep all key stakeholders involved in and informed about Bank Project Portfolio status and changes from the introduction and arbitration of Project Ideas until the closing out of Projects and Programs
  • Drive the intake process of project ideas through the existing governance framework
  • Assess the value proposition of each idea in relation to the overall Bank Strategy
  • Closely partner with the process stakeholders to analyze new project requests readiness and feasibility for governance decisions while providing transparency on required change resources and budget/ expenditure
  • Make ideas prioritization / arbitration recommendations to the different Change Governance bodies
  • Ensure a pro-active monitoring of the project ideas pipeline
  • Monitor Bank Programs/Projects Portfolio, tracking it's evolution and anticipating risks and issues for mitigation and resolution
  • Identify project/program interdependencies and ensure a close monitoring to enable efficient and effective delivery
  • Monitor the change resources capacity (availability), its allocation and propose preventive/corrective actions on capacity issues
  • Monitor Portfolio, Program and Project budget/expenditure in liaison with the Finance Department
  • Monitor and manage delivery risks at Bank Projects Portfolio level
  • Perform scenario analysis to quantify the impact of decisions on projects/programs on the overall Bank Portfolio
  • Make recommendations to the different Change Governance bodies regarding project continuation or termination in relation to Bank Strategy and investment budget
  • Deliver reports on the status of Project Idea and Program/Project Portfolios and provide qualitative and quantitative assessments related to these statuses. Distribute these reports to the different Change Governance bodies and other stakeholders within the bank for informed decisions and governance.
  • Manage portfolio management governance, artifacts, IT Solutions, communications, metrics, and reporting.
  • Manage data and portfolio process in the Bank project portfolio management IT solutions ( Clarity / Jira)which deliver the capabilities required to manage work and resources across the portfolios
  • Continuously improve the Project Portfolio Management process and deliverables thereby extending best practices across the Program and Project Portfolio
  • Facilitating the set-up and use of consistent and standard delivery methods viaProcess and Product Quality Assurance (PPQA) reviews
  • Coach and train project/ program managers to improve consistency and quality in project delivery

Your skills:

  • 5+ years' experience working or consulting in relevant fields of expertise, largely gained in the financial services environment. Broad knowledge of the banking sector and/or an in-depth knowledge of one of its domains (assets, securities, payments, risk, …) or business areas (retail, wealth, corporate).
  • Strong understanding of business strategy
  • Demonstrated project portfolio management skills and experience (project intake, resource demand planning, budget demand) and strong project management skills
  • Experience with Project Portfolio budget management ( Business case , benefits and costs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills at all levels. Ability to communicate succinctly
  • Strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated skill running effective meetings and getting buy-in and participation from executive leaders
  • Ability to negotiate with executive leaders
  • Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service
  • Ability to organize and present project portfolio reports, proposals, and other related portfolio information
  • Confident under pressure, articulate, resilient and self-motivated
  • Hands-on experience with Portfolio Management tools (Clarity™ / Jira a plus)
  • Fluent (reading, writing, speaking) in English and French, any other language constituting an advantage
  • A PMO certification is a plus
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project), MS SharePoint proficient
