About us...

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors.

The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary and together we contribute to science and society.

To sustain its continuous development, the University of Luxembourg has a new job opening within its Interdisciplinary Centre the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB). We are looking for a Technology Transfer Officer.

Mission

As part of the LCSB Operations, the Innovation and Partnering team is dedicated to support and enhance innovative research and development at LCSB and to make the resulting technologies available for external national and international collaboration or valorization in order to increase the socio-economic impact of LCSB's research and to acquire additional funding sources for innovative research projects.

Your key role will be to identify LCSB research and intellectual property (IP) with specific potential for commercialization and partnering and further advising on and driving the liaison with industrial and/or public partners. You will identify potential research partners and IP licensees and drive the process of partnering LCSB researchers with the respective external parties. Your role further includes working with and at the Luxembourg Bioincubator, which was recently launched as a joint initiative between LCSB and LIH, and support its manager in the operations and strategic positioning of the Bioincubator. Through these activities, you will support and further develop LCSB innovation and UL valorization processes.


You will work within the LCSB Innovation and Partnering team and report to the team leader whilst collaborating with the Bioincubator manager and liaising with the central Technology Transfer Office at the University of Luxembourg (PaKTTO).

Your Role...

  • Liaison with the LCSB research groups and identification of IP and research with partnering and commercialization potential
  • Support the evaluation of novel IP (marketability, prior art)
  • Market analysis to evaluate commercial potential and market needs
  • Advising of inventors w.r.t. marketability and further market-oriented development of technologies and for building strategic IP portfolios
  • Identification of potential joint activities and projects with internal and external partners
  • Identification of potential clients and industrial collaboration partners
  • Liaison and relationship building with external partners
  • Monitoring of specific markets and industry areas with potential interest in LCSB technologies
  • Evaluation and correction of public innovation funding program proposals and business plans in collaboration with other members of the LCSB Innovation and Partnering team
  • Internal dissemination of the results of partnering and valorization activities with the aim strengthen the awareness and understanding of innovation projects and technology transfer strategy within the LCSB
  • External Dissemination of results of partnering and valorization activities with the aim of raising industrial awareness of LCSB's innovation and partnering activities and promoting its technologies
  • Support the operations of the Luxembourg Bioincubator
  • Support and advise the Bioincubator manager in strategic positioning and communication regarding the Bioincubator
  • Support the organization of social and dissemination events for the LCSB and the Bioincubator

What we expect from you…

Education/Experience:

  • University degree in the field of technology or life sciences, PhD in the above fields is an asset
  • Professional experience in technology offering and transfer and/or research management, consulting, business strategy
  • Experience in the public research sector, experience in the private sector is an asset
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication of science
  • Understanding the needs of both business as well as public stakeholders

  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • Team-player
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Diplomatic negotiation style

  • Awareness of the rules and restrictions of both the public research as well as the business world
  • Proficiency in English and in French and/or German, Luxembourgish is a plus
  • Ability to manage several requests and situation at one time and able to meet deadlines
