Operational Risk Management - European Institution

Our client, a Investment Bank based in Luxembourg is looking for its future Operational Risk Management for their Group Risk & Compliance service.

This will be a temporary contract of 2 months. Please note that this assignment may be extended, in accordance with Luxembourgish law, for a maximum duration of 1 year.

Your responsabilities :

As Officer in Operational Risk Management, you will contribute to the development and strengthening of the organisation’s operational risk framework, helping reinforce risk awareness and second-line oversight across the institution.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development and continuous improvement of operational risk frameworks, policies, methodologies and internal guidelines.
• Contributing to the integration of regulatory expectations, internal recommendations, market practices and business needs into risk management approaches.
• Developing and maintaining methodologies for operational risk assessment, including scenario analysis, back testing and measurement tools.
• Monitoring operational risk management practices across the organisation and providing constructive challenge where needed.
• Following up on operational incidents, ensuring risk mitigation actions are identified and implemented effectively.
• Maintaining and improving operational risk data within the governance, risk and compliance system, ensuring information is accurate, complete and reliable.
• Supporting internal stakeholders in the effective use of risk management tools for event reporting and follow-up.
• Contributing to system improvements, testing activities and reporting developments, including dashboards and analysis outputs.
• Preparing high-quality risk reports for senior management and governance bodies.
• Supporting operational risk capital calculations and contributing to internal capital adequacy processes.
• Assisting in the review and improvement of methodologies used for capital modelling and validation remediation.
• Participating in cross-functional projects linked to operational and non-financial risk topics.
• Preparing presentations, analytical documents and briefing materials to support decision-making.
• Promoting strong collaboration across departments to ensure consistent application of the operational risk framework.

Your profile :

You are a risk professional with strong analytical skills, a structured mindset, and an interest in strengthening operational risk management within a complex organisation.

You bring:

• A university degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Banking, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in operational risk management, audit, risk and controls, or project management.
• Good understanding of operational risk frameworks, regulations and market best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex information and propose practical solutions.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong writing and presentation skills, especially in English.
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience with PowerBI and SAP Business Objects (SAP BO) is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with governance, risk and compliance tools (such as HOPEX) is an advantage.
• Project management experience or knowledge of project methodologies is beneficial.

Language requirements :

• Excellent command of English and/or French, with a good command of the other language.
• Knowledge of additional EU languages is considered an advantage.
