TASK RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a watch on weather, monitoring and advising on changes likely to affect aircraft operations. Analyzing and interpreting current weather situations.
  • Focus on air traffic analysis and briefing. Have a working knowledge of Eurocontrol Network Operations Portal (NOP) and understanding of Air traffic Flow Management, slot allocation and route structure usage. 
  • Remain familiar with the flights and routes flown across the network to ensure you can effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Consider airline cost analysis; operating and indirect costs, fuel, operations, cargo delivery at destination in every decision you make and back this up with statistics and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of airports utilized across the network to ensure you can effectively evaluate airport entry requirements (night ban, noise-abatement, runway conditions).
  • Develop understanding and consideration of airport slot availability, liaising with Cargolux scheduling teams on a regular basis, as well as maintaining slot portfolios based on company and industry standard IATA guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of considerations specific to the operations of each Cargolux station including localized aviation infrastructure constraints, national or company regulatory differences, employee agreement parameters, customer profile and service expectations, and consider these factors and nuances in support of operational decision making.
  • Work closely with the Head of IACC to ensure optimum resolution of issues arising due to technical and maintenance factors, weather, airport, air traffic control situations and/or crew constraints across the network.
  • Communicate program related information with internal and external stakeholders including Ground, Import, Export, Crewing, Engineering and Maintenance, Customer teams, Ground Handling Agent, and service providers.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience within an airline operational environment (Operations Control is a must).
  • Be able to read/understand/make use of main aviation codes, charts, standards and phraseology.
  • Preferably holding a Flight Dispatch license (i.e. FAA).
  • Ability to stay calm and patient under pressure.
  • Ability to make decisions on the spot even in high-stress situations.
  • Computer literate with understanding of Microsoft applications.
  • Able to assimilate information, determine priorities and make decisions based on sound judgement.
  • Natural team leader and player.
  • Previous experience with main dispatch and operations control tools is a plus.
  • Previous experience with AIMS/Lido/Fusion/Sita OnAir main dispatch and ops control tools is a plus.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

At Cargolux, we have created a new Integrated Airline Control Centre (IACC) which has accountability for the operational planning and 24/7 delivery and control of airline operations in the operational control window. The Operations Controller will be monitoring and coordinating the status of flights across the Cargolux fleets to ensure we are aware of where our aircraft are always, maintaining the highest safety standards whilst delivering the flying program. 

In this role, you will report directly to the Head of IACC to provide support and solutions when there is disruption to the normal operation, as well as liaising closely with colleagues within the IACC inner circle, Network, Flight Dispatch Crew Control and MCC, and external colleagues such as our Hub, Stations, Load Masters and our service partners and providers across Cargolux worldwide network.

 As our IACC operates on a 24/7 basis 365 days per year, the role will be shift based. Covering a combination of day, afternoon and night shifts, which could span weekends and Bank Holidays (shift patterns may be subject to change in line with business requirements).
