Software development engineer test SDET M/W

Hays is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test.

• Freelance contract or permanent contract via a payrolling company
• English fluent is mandatory
• No full remote

You will be part of a Software Development team (Java, Javascript, Python, and Typescript developers)

• Enhance overall functional performance across mission‑critical applications.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize robust automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, end‑to‑end).
• Ensure the highest level of product quality through proactive testing and continuous improvement.
• Apply strong Java software development expertise to build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (DevOps, Product, Architecture) to deliver high‑value features.
• Identify defects early in the development cycle and drive root‑cause analysis with relevant teams.
• Implement best practices in code quality, performance optimization, and technical documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, propose architectural improvements, and support continuous delivery processes.
• Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD pipelines to reinforce testing automation and deployment reliability.
• Monitor application behavior and performance, suggesting improvements to enhance user experience.

Main skills :

• 4 years in SDET domain with the focus on REST API and Web UI Testing
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript / Typescript
• Good understanding of REST APIs, Microservices and Web UI testing; software development principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
• Experience with testing frameworks (Junit, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright, PyTest)
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Gitlab)
• Knowledge of Cloud platforms (Azure)
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
