About us

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.
Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM
seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

The Department of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (DHML) is part of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of Luxembourg. The department coordinates all teaching programmes in medicine, life sciences, nursing, radiography and midwifery and collaborates closely with national healthcare providers as well as leading international biomedical research institutions.

Research within the department integrates basic and translational, molecular and computational approaches, with a particular focus on cancer biology, alongside clinical research on human health and disease. The University of Luxembourg has set medicine and health as strategic priority areas and is actively expanding its education and research activities in these domains, creating strong opportunities in medical, biomedical, and mental health fields.

Since 2023, the University has launched several Bachelor of Science programmes in specialised nursing, including surgery, anaesthesia/resuscitation, paediatrics, and psychiatry. The Bachelor in General Nursing Care programme was introduced in September 2024, followed in September 2025 by additional programmes in Midwifery and Technical-Medical Radiology Assistance.

These programmes are based on experiential and person-centred pedagogical approaches, integrating advanced technologies and hands-on training in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and care centres, in close collaboration with national and international partners.

Your role

The successful candidates will be appointed on a full-time basis and will play a key role in developing and coordinating nursing education. These positions combine teaching and research responsibilities, with a primary emphasis on teaching. Engagement in professional clinical activity will be considered an asset.

Candidates will contribute to the development of health sciences programmes and will have the opportunity to establish an independent research profile in Nursing Sciences within an interdisciplinary and growing academic environment and in close collaboration with healthcare partners at national and international levels.

Teaching:

The appointees will contribute to the development, coordination, and delivery of Bachelor programmes in nursing and related fields. A primary focus will be placed either on general nursing care or on one of the specialised programmes in perioperative surgery, psychiatric/mental health nursing, or anaesthesia/critical care.

They will be expected to take responsibility for the coordination of the corresponding study programme, including student selection, development of training plans, organisation and coordination of theoretical and practical teaching, and programme evaluation. These activities will be carried out in close collaboration with academic staff, clinical tutors, and external partners involved in clinical placements.

Teaching activities will be embedded in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, involving professors, teachers, and researchers across the University's health programmes, including medicine, biology, midwifery, and nursing.

Research:

The successful candidates will be expected to develop advanced health research based on quantitative methodologies, aligned with the thematic focus of the department and the overall strategic framework of the University. They will be encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations within the University, as well as with national and international partners.
