Technical Delivery Manager

About Passbolt

Passbolt is an innovative cybersecurity product company that is growing quickly. Our organization is remote-friendly and is located in Luxembourg (Europe). We are the team behind Passbolt, the leading open source password manager for DevOps teams used by thousands of organizations in 50+ countries.

You will join a growing and vibrant team committed to provide an exceptional experience to all passbolt users, community members and customers. Passbolt is and always will be an engineering company. We're looking for versatile, self-motivated individuals with a knack for technology, ethics and privacy, who can think outside of the box and find elegant solutions to challenging problems.

Purpose of the job

We are seeking a Technical Delivery Manager to join the Product Team and ensure that what was planned actually ships complete, tested, and on time. Passbolt comes in three editions (Community, Pro, and Cloud), spans multiple clients and platforms, and ships every month on an agreed date. Several teams work in parallel across these components, and the breadth of the product combined with the pace of delivery makes coordination critical.

You will work closely with all stakeholders involved in product development, from product owners defining requirements through to developers and QA validating implementations. You will coordinate demos across teams and editions, ensuring specifications are met and issues are surfaced early. At the end of the day, your job is to make sure things get shipped.

A strong technical background is essential. You need to be able to read a specification, understand its implications, identify what is missing, and have a productive conversation about scope, trade-offs, and sequencing with tech leads. You will not write code, but reading and understanding it is essential. Your ability to follow technical flows and reason about implementation details is what will make you effective in this role.

After gaining expertise and product knowledge, you will help shape how Passbolt delivers at scale. This means refining processes, improving how teams collaborate across clients and editions, and ensuring that as the product grows in complexity, the ability to ship reliably every month grows with it.

Technologies

  • Project Management: ClickUp
  • Development Methodologies: Agile Scrum
  • Communication & Collaboration: Slack, Google Workspace
  • Product Stack: PHP (CakePHP), JavaScript (React), native mobile (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin), CLI (Golang), Ansible (Python) and more
  • Cryptography: OpenPGP (ECC/RSA, AES, AEAD, etc.)
  • Version Control: Git
  • CI/CD: Continuous integration and delivery pipelines (Gitlab, Github)
  • Distribution: Linux packaging (DEB, RPM), Docker, Helm Chart

Main Responsibilities

Delivery Ownership

  • Own the delivery of each monthly release cycle from planning through to publishing date. You are accountable for features to land as complete, tested, and on time across all editions and clients.
  • Track progress across all teams and maintain a clear picture of where things stand at all times.
  • When delivery is at risk, take ownership of getting it back on track by escalating, cutting scope, re-sequencing, or pulling in the right people.

Specification & Quality Control

  • Review technical and functional specifications before development starts. Identify missing scenarios, edge cases, and integration gaps across clients and editions.
  • Work with tech leads to split features into shippable increments and ensure every change has clear acceptance criteria and a definition of done.
  • Validate implementations against specifications through coordinated demos across teams.

Scrum Ceremonies & Team Coordination

  • Facilitate agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and ensure they remain focused and useful.
  • Ensure teams working on different clients and editions are aligned on the same objectives, share issues early, and coordinate on interfaces, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Identify and remove impediments. When a developer or a team is blocked, your job is to unblock them, whether that means helping a decision get made, pulling in another team member, or escalating to leadership.

Risk Management & Transparency

  • Flag risks and blockers early. If something is slipping, stakeholders should know as soon as you do.
  • Prepare and present progress updates with key metrics, timelines, and deliverables to relevant stakeholders.
  • Report on delivery health and propose corrective actions when needed.

Release Coordination

  • Coordinate the release process across all components and editions, ensuring everything ships together coherently.
  • Coordinate with the communication and marketing team to organize product release communications.
  • Work with support, SRE, and security teams to ensure releases meet quality, security and compliance requirements (SOC2, ISO27001).

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring delivery bottlenecks and drive process improvements. Fix the system, not just the symptom.
  • Keep tools, processes, and documentation up to date and useful.
  • Support the Product Team in maintaining and developing standards, reporting, and best practices.

Data Privacy & Security

  • Ensure each feature delivery includes a risk analysis that identifies and proposes mitigations for newly introduced security issues or risks.
  • Verify that security considerations are addressed in specifications before development starts.
  • Ensure that data handled by the software complies with GDPR and other data protection regulations.
  • Collaborate with the security and senior management teams to maintain up-to-date company policies and risk registers.
  • Assist the security team in enforcing least privilege access and ensure proper segregation of roles and responsibilities.
  • Participate in security exercises and help refine processes and crisis management procedures.

Skills required / qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Master of Science or University degree relevant to Software Engineering and/or comparable work experience/certification.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong understanding of software architecture, technical trade-offs, and development workflows.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a delivery management, project management, or technical coordination role on software projects. This can range from a dedicated role to leading delivery as part of a senior engineering position.
  • Proficient with agile methodologies and experienced running scrum ceremonies in practice.
  • Proficient with project management tools such as ClickUp, Jira, or equivalent.
  • Familiar with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and software release processes.

Considered a plus:

  • Scrum Master, PMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience delivering software across multiple platforms simultaneously (API, web, mobile, browser extensions, CLI).
  • Experience working on a security-sensitive or compliance-driven product (SOC2, ISO27001).
  • Experience with open source projects.

Soft Skills

  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written and preferably one other language.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  • Ability to lead and influence without formal authority. Comfortable building consensus and driving decisions across teams without being the direct manager.
  • Comfortable working in full autonomy while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Receptive to feedback and able to adapt approaches based on team and stakeholder input.
  • Inspired by cybersecurity or privacy related issues. You believe in an ethical web. You understand what open source means.

Considered a plus:

  • Experience working in an international environment with a culturally diverse team.
  • Experience collaborating with remote teams in an asynchronous workflow.
