The molecular genetic unit of the national center of genetics (NCG) is seeking to hire an experienced molecular biologist to strengthen the existing team performing molecular genetic diagnostic test in the context of genetic diseases and molecular oncology.
The scientist will be responsible for selecting, establishing, validating and coordinating molecular genetic assays with the aim of writing diagnostic genetic reports in the context of onco-hematology.
If interested, the scientist will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research and collaborative projects and will be offered the opportunity to apply for funding for research projects.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated partner with an interest in developing and using state-of-the-art molecular techniques to improve patient care
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the selection and setup of molecular genetic assays for the diagnosis and follow-up of cancer diagnosis (solid tumors and hematological neoplasia)
- Validate molecular genetic assays for clinical use
- Participate in the pre-analytic analysis of samples received by the laboratory
- Draft clinical molecular genetic reports
- Optimize technical protocols, operating procedures and assay automation
- Actively participate in the development and maintenance of a quality system based on (ISO 15189)
- Participate in external quality control trials
- Train technicians and supervise of students
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- PhD in Biology preferentially in Molecular Oncology, Molecular Biology or Molecular Genetics
- Previous working experience in a diagnostic molecular genetic setting is desirable
- A keen interest in the field molecular oncology is mandatory
- Hands on experience in the clinical implementation and validation of molecular diagnostic assays using PCR, real-time PCR, digital PCR and next generation sequencing based techniques
- Hands on experience in analysis of high throughout data for molecular pathology
- Experience in variant interpretation
- Experience in drafting clinical reports
- Proficiency with a LIMS system
- Ability to independently handle projects, priorise tasks and manage expectations.
- Fluent in English. Ideally, working proficiency in either French or German. Luxemburgish is an asset.
