JAO
About our company
“We partner with Europe to empower and enhance a sustainable energy market”.
Located in Luxembourg, we are a service company that hosts Europe's single leading trading platform(e-CAT) for cross-border transmission capacity. On behalf of TSOs, we auction the available long and short-term transmission capacity rights on all internal EU borders.
On the 1st of October 2018, JAO became the Single Allocation Platform (SAP) for all European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) that operate in accordance with EU legislation, since it is able to implement and fulfill all regulatory obligations and requirements. We provide accounting (clearing and settlement), contracting, reporting and project support services.
About the job
Role purpose / mission
Your mission is to help build a new integration product from the ground up and turn it into working capabilities that deliver practical value across JAO.
The Enterprise Integration Layer will handle substantial daily data flows. In this role, you will connect business needs, application-team requirements, and technical expertise to shape its development and adoption.
You will champion incremental delivery and experimentation while keeping data quality, reliability, and maintainability central to decisions.
We are looking for someone who creates momentum in ambiguity and delivers useful outcomes, not someone who waits for a complete specification or limits their contribution to organising the backlog.
Why this role?
You will help create a new product from its foundations, influencing how JAO’s applications exchange data and how teams benefit from shared integration capabilities.
Ownership and mandate
You are the owner of the product’s direction, health, and continued improvement. You facilitate prioritization with relevant stakeholders rather than deciding it unilaterally, while actively progressing delivery and adoption within agreed objectives.
To be clear, this is not a service-support or incident-management role. Dedicated teams handle operational support and incident resolution. Your responsibility is to understand the impact on the platform and its consumers, ensure necessary improvements receive appropriate prioritization, and follow through on agreed action.
Finally, technical design, implementation, testing, security approval, and service operations remain with the relevant specialists. You connect their contributions, challenge gaps, and escalate blockers until the intended value can be demonstrated.
Key activities in the position:
Shape the product around real needs
1. Develop the product vision with business stakeholders, application owners, the Tech Lead, and architects.
2. Understand consuming teams as internal customers, identifying their problems, constraints, and expected benefits.
3. Challenge integration requests to establish the underlying need and simplest effective solution.
4. Validate assumptions through focused discovery, prototypes, or experiments before committing to broader development.
5. Help distinguish reusable platform capabilities from needs better addressed through a simpler or specific solution.
Facilitate priorities and maintain direction
6. Maintain a roadmap and backlog reflecting agreed priorities and intended outcomes.
7. Facilitate prioritisation with project managers, service managers, application owners, and technical teams.
8. Make business value, dependencies, delivery effort, data risks, and operational implications explicit.
9. Bring recommendations and practical alternatives to resolve competing demands.
10. Ensure decisions happen in time to support delivery and that relevant teams understand changes and commitments.
11. Escalate unresolved trade-offs with clear options and recommendations.
Drive incremental delivery and adoption
12. Turn agreed needs into manageable increments with clear acceptance criteria and value objectives.
13. Work closely with the Tech Lead and delivery team to clarify requirements and keep implementation moving.
14. Address blockers and cross-application dependencies with responsible teams.
15. Challenge unnecessary scope and overengineering while protecting essential quality requirements.
16. Establish a clear value objective for each sprint and demonstrate what was delivered, validated, or enabled.
17. Follow capabilities through to operational use, working with consuming teams on onboarding and adoption.
18. Confirm whether delivered integrations achieve their expected benefits, such as reduced manual handling or more dependable data exchange.
Maintain product health and drive corrective priorities
19. Maintain visibility of platform health through regular engagement with service management, support, and technical teams.
20. Understand how incidents, recurring failures, and data-quality issues affect connected applications and business operations.
21. Ensure reliability and data-integrity concerns receive timely prioritisation with the relevant stakeholders, particularly where problems can propagate across applications.
22. Challenge delays when unresolved issues expose JAO to significant operational disruption or undermine confidence in the platform.
23. Follow through on agreed corrective and preventive improvements, keeping dependencies and unresolved risks visible.
24. Use incident trends and operational feedback to strengthen the roadmap rather than allowing workarounds and recurring failures to become permanent.
Build quality and sustainable growth into the product
25. Work with specialists to define requirements for data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, traceability, and appropriate access.
26. Bring sufficient technical understanding to discuss APIs, data contracts, dependencies, failure handling, and monitoring needs.
27. Facilitate agreement on acceptance criteria and operational-readiness expectations with the responsible teams.
28. Define KPIs covering adoption, reliability, data quality, and delivery effectiveness.
29. Gather feedback from consuming teams and improve usability, onboarding, and documentation with contributing specialists.
30. Encourage reuse where it delivers value without allowing platform ambitions to obstruct practical delivery.
31. Help move successful experiments into maintainable, supported capabilities.
We are looking for someone with the following skills set:
Experience
1. Demonstrated experience turning technical product needs into working, adopted capabilities.
2. Experience developing a new product or significant platform capability from discovery into operational use.
3. An advantage: experience with enterprise integration platforms, high-volume data environments, or internal platform adoption.
Skills and knowledge
1. Working understanding of APIs, interfaces, data contracts, integration dependencies, and failure scenarios.
2. Strong awareness of data quality, security, governance, and operational reliability.
3. The ability to translate technical capabilities into clear value for internal customers.
4. Practical judgement about when to experiment, standardise, reuse, or choose a simpler solution.
5. The ability to recognise the wider consequences of platform deterioration and drive appropriate prioritisation.
6. Strong facilitation and negotiation skills, with confidence challenging competing demands.
7. Persistence in overcoming delivery obstacles across teams without direct managerial authority.
7. A proactive approach that combines experimentation with disciplined follow-through.
Additional Requirement
According to the Luxembourg law of July 23rd 2016 (as amended), the successful applicant will be required to provide a Criminal Record before signing the employment contract.Â
