DLA Piper Luxembourg is looking for a motivated and curious Accounting & Finance intern to join our Finance team through an internship or apprenticeship starting September 2026.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Accounting & Finance intern will participate in the day-to-day finance operations of the Luxembourg office and will contribute to a finance support project aimed at reviewing and enhancing accounting processes, documentation and workflow efficiency.
The candidate will work alongside the Finance team to gain practical exposure to accounting activities, support selected projects and develop a strong understanding of finance operations within an international professional services environment.
Main duties and responsibilities
Accounting and Finance Support
- Support the processing and monitoring of accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash-related transactions.
- Prepare accounting loaders and support documentation for posting into the accounting systems.
- Review invoices and support documents to ensure completeness.
- Assist with vendor and client follow-up activities.
- Learn balance sheet reconciliation preparation and account analysis.
- Assist in fixed asset tracking and maintenance of supporting schedules.
- Gain exposure to month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Support the preparation of financial information required for audits and internal reviews.
Administrative and Coordination Activities
- Assist with the monitoring of the Finance team mailbox and learn proper allocation of requests.
- Track outstanding actions and coordinate follow-up with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accounting documentation and filing in accordance with internal policies.
- Observe and support interactions between the Luxembourg office and the Global Shared Service Centre for day-to-day accounting matters.
- Support lawyers and business teams with routine finance-related requests.
Process Improvement and Automation
- Identify opportunities for simplification and efficiency gains.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Excel-based tools and reporting files.
- Support automation initiatives and standardization of finance processes.
- Participate in projects aimed at improving controls, data quality and workflow efficiency.
- Assist with process documentation and knowledge management.
- Participate in ad hoc finance projects and analyses as required.
About you
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong interest in accounting and finance operations.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Fluent English required. French is considered a strong asset.
- Comfortable working with data and administrative processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Curious, proactive and eager to learn.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
