About us...

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors.

The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary and together we contribute to science and society.

Your Role...

The junior group in Imaging AI develops applied AI research focused on biomedical signal analysis and medical image computing. The general aim of the group is translating bleeding edge algorithms from fundamental AI and imaging research closer to a concrete biomedical application. A focus is currently towards more robust AI models for applied image computing, for example by employing domain adaptation, joint embedding architectures, or similar techniques.

What we expect from you…

  • At least a Master's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Strong background in software development in relevant languages (Python, MATLAB)
  • Interest in applied machine learning, including but not limited to deep learning
  • Interest in image analysis / computer vision and pattern recognition, including but not limited to biomedical applications, in particular for neuroscience
  • Experience with recent deep learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, MONAI)
  • Experience utilising GPU enabled High-Performance Computing environments is an asset
  • Open minded critical thinker, willing to actively contribute to the further development of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary research team
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills

We are looking for highly motivated candidates who share our passion for research, are interested in acquiring new skills and wish to be part of an international and multi-interdisciplinary team. The specific project enables close collaborations with leading researchers in computer vision at partner Universities.

In our team, we follow a leadership concept of promoting independent work and autonomous collaboration of team members towards common goals. We expect the candidate to actively contribute with their diverse experiences to the projects of their peers, in order to move forward together. In return, we offer individual mentorship, an always open door and support external trainings and personal development efforts tailored to the individual needs of candidates.

Here's what awaits you at the LCSB...

  • Excellent work environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, laboratory and administrative support
  • Truly connected. We work together with hospitals and research institutes on a national and international level as well as industrial partners. Connection between science and society is very important to us. From our school lab - the Scienteens Lab - to the different outreach activities and collaborative partnerships with patient associations, we love to listen to society's needs and share our passion for science
  • Be part of a multicultural team. At the LCSB we have more than 50 nationalities. Throughout the year, we organise team-building events, networking activities and more
