The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) is a research centre for the study, analysis and public dissemination of contemporary history of Luxembourg and Europe with a particular focus on digital methods and tools for doing innovative historical research. It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination and societal engagement with history.

Your Role...

The researcher develops a digital workflow for preserving and disclosing newly conducted and existing oral history interviews. The researcher develops a best practice guideline for a unified informed consent procedure, as well as data protection and ethical practices in using the oral history methodology at C2DH. The researcher cooperates with colleagues of the Data Research Infrastructure Unit and the Research Area Public History at C2DH, as well as the Media Centre of the University of Luxembourg, to create a pipeline for the digital preservation of oral history interviews within the software tool Cat-DV, as well as the public disclosing of a selection of these interviews on the sustainable digital social hub Historesch Gesinn: https://www.c2dh.uni.lu/projects/historesch-gesinn. The postdoc offers training in oral history and digital methods to MA students, PhD candidates and researchers at C2DH. As a member of the Research Area 'Contemporary History of Luxembourg' of C2DH, the postdoc organises a study day about Contemporary History in the Greater Region.

What we expect from you…

  • PhD in history, cultural anthropology, media studies or related field
  • Expertise in the field of oral history is an asset
  • Good digital literacy and interest in transmedia storytelling
  • Good language proficiency in English, French, and German; Luxembourgish is an asset
  • Team working spirit and participation in outreach activities of the C2DH
