SIGCOM group at SnT, University of Luxembourg, is currently seeking expressions of interest from outstanding PhD students (nearing completion) or early-career postdoctoral researchers who would like to apply for the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026 with Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas and/or Prof. Eva Lagunas as Academic Supervisors.

Your role
Your research interests shall align with one or more of the following areas:
- Beyond 5G Wireless Communication Systems
- Non-Terrestrial Communication Systems
- Intelligent Open Radio Access Networks
- Dynamic Spectrum Sharing
- Access-Edge-Cloud Telecom Network Slicing
- Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces
- Joint Communication and Sensing
- Software Defined Networks and Network Virtualisation
- Network Infrastructure Sharing / Routing Strategies
- Network Performance Monitoring and Demand-based design
- ML/AI-Based Network Performance Prediction and Resource Provisioning
- Quantum Communications
- Optical Communications
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and investigating novel scenarios and use cases, developing novel solutions able to provide a good performance-complexity trade-off for the identified scenarios and use cases.
- Implementing and developing a software and/or hardware testing environment to compare and evaluate the proposed techniques.
- Disseminating results through scientific publications and conferences
- The candidates are expected to actively contribute to the selected research area.
- Preparing new research proposals to attract follow-up industrial, national and European projects
- Providing assistance in the supervision of PhD students.
Your profile
Qualification: The candidate should possess an Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Telecommunications and Computer Science
Experience: The successful candidate should have proven experience (in terms of high-ranking journals or international conference proceedings and involvement in research activities) in one or multiple areas mentioned above.
In addition, we request the following expertise:
- Convex/non-convex optimization
- Signal processing and general communications background
- Programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python
- Good writing and oral presentation skills, in English
Eligibility requirements of MSCA:
- Research experience: Maximum of 8 years from the award of first PhD. N.B.: Deductions apply e.g., maternity leave, not working in research
- Resubmission: Allowed if a proposal scores at least 70%
- Mobility rule: Must not have resided or carried out main activity in Luxembourg for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date, N.B.: includes remote work
- Only one proposal per individual can be submitted
- Secondments can take up to one-third of the duration of the fellowship
