The Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC), the University's main library, supports students, researchers, staff and the wider public by providing documentary collections, information services and expertise that contribute to learning, teaching, and research.

Your role

The role will focus on ensuring continuity of services, maintaining collection quality and supporting ongoing academic needs.

  • Act as a key contact / interface between the libraries and University stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, students and administrative departments, in particular within the Faculty of Law, Economics & Finance (FDEF)
  • Take ownership of collection plans and budgets for the relevant subject areas, ensuring expertise and added value to faculty
  • Contribute actively to the preparation, update and implementation of collection development strategies, acquisition plans and related documentation, and contribute to defining and adapting practices, tools and approaches based on needs
  • Provide expert advice, research support and information literacy training tailored to the needs of students, researchers and teaching staff, and act as a sparring partner for academic users
  • Reply to enquiries and support users in identifying, accessing and using relevant documentary resources, databases and information tools, providing added‑value guidance and expert advice where needed
  • Create and maintain subject guides, web pages, bibliographies, thematic selections, tutorials and other user‑support material, aligned with the specific needs and priorities of FDEF and related disciplines
  • Monitor trends in teaching, learning and research in the relevant disciplines in order to keep collections and services up to date, analyse needs and propose improvements and adapted approaches
  • Maintain regular interaction with academic stakeholders to identify evolving curriculum needs, new programmes, research priorities and resource requirements, and translate these into concrete collection and service developments
  • Promote the libraries' collections, resources and services through targeted communication, outreach, training and advocacy activities that emphasise added value to faculty and researchers
  • Analyse usage data and user feedback to support evidence‑based decisions, prioritise activities based on needs and timeframe, and drive continuous improvement of collections and services
  • Contribute to shaping and improving practices for cataloguing, classification, signage, collection maintenance and the organisation of documentary resources according to applicable standards

Your profile

  • Master's degree or equivalent by work experience in Library, Information or Documentation Science; or a Master's degree in a relevant discipline complemented by training or experience in information management
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an academic or research library
  • Strong experience in collection development, user support, reference services, information literacy and communication with academic users
  • Good knowledge of library management systems, discovery tools, catalogues, databases and digital information resources
  • Experience with collection development policies, acquisition workflows, budget monitoring, usage analysis and service improvement
  • Ability to define, apply and improve standards, procedures, methods and tools related to library services and collection management
  • Advanced digital literacy and good command of MS Office and professional library tools. Knowledge of Alma would be an advantage

Language Requirements: Excellent command of English and French (C1); very good command of German and/or Luxembourgish (B2) would be considered an asset.
