Your role
The VR/AR Lab, headed by Dr. Jean Botev in the Department of Computer Science, is inviting applications for a Doctoral Researcher position in Mediated Reality. The VR/AR Lab is a research unit dedicated to developing and exploring immersive experiences, novel context-aware applications, and distributed virtual environments. The lab's research focuses on immersion, interactivity, collaboration, adaptivity, agency, representation, and context-awareness in collaborative and socio-technical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and evaluate novel XR applications and interactive systems targeting different sensory modalities such as vision, audition, haptics
- Plan and conduct empirical user studies, including experimental design, data collection, and analysis of factors such as immersion, presence, collaboration, and user experience
- Write and publish high-quality research papers at international conferences and in journals, and present results at scientific events, workshops, and project meetings
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, e.g., academic groups, industry, cultural institutions, on joint XR projects and demonstrators, including project planning and reporting
- Support the setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the lab's XR infrastructure, including hardware, software, and experimental setups
- Participate in preparing research proposals, project deliverables, and dissemination material, such as web, demos, events, to increase the visibility and impact of the lab's work
- Contribute to teaching and (co-)supervision of students
Your profile
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Computational Sciences, or a in a similar field
- Strong foundation in programming, algorithms, and experimental or applied research in a technical domain and previous experience in XR, UI, and UX development
- Proficiency in at least one major game engine, e.g., Unity or Unreal Engine, and C#/C++ or similar languages for interactive 3D applications
- Proven interest in interdisciplinary research and record of initiative
Language Requirements:
