Our Client

People Solutions by Arhis is supporting an established non-life reinsurance company based in Luxembourg City in the recruitment of a Senior Technical Accounting Officer for a temporary assignment of 4 to 6 months.

Part of an international financial group employing approximately 1,300 people, our client combines the strength and resources of a global organisation with the agility and collaborative environment of a local team of around 15 professionals.

Operating across European and North American markets, the company specialises in reinsurance solutions covering surety, financial, property and liability risks.

To provide temporary support to its Finance team, we are looking for an experienced professional who can quickly take ownership of technical accounting activities and contribute to the accuracy and reliability of financial and regulatory reporting.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Accounting Manager and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, you will be involved in a broad range of technical accounting and reporting activities relating to reinsurance operations.

Technical Accounting & Operations

• Collect, review and process technical accounting data relating to reinsurance contracts and treaties.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timely recording of technical transactions within the accounting systems.
• Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, brokers and ceding companies to ensure the quality and consistency of technical information.
• Monitor reinsurance receivables and payables, premium collections and claims payments.
• Contribute to cash flow monitoring and effective cash management in collaboration with the Finance team.
• Support the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal control procedures.

Financial & Regulatory Reporting

• Assist in preparing monthly technical financial reports for local management and the wider group.
• Analyse the financial performance of reinsurance programmes, including variances against forecasts and expectations.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports in accordance with applicable standards, particularly Lux GAAP and Solvency II.
• Support reporting requirements for supervisory authorities and rating agencies.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors during statutory, compliance and financial audits.

Requirements

Your Profile

Education & Professional Experience

• You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification (minimum three years of higher education) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a related field.
• You have at least 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within an insurance or reinsurance company.
• Experience gained within a captive management company or an accounting firm specialising in insurance or reinsurance will also be considered.
• You have a sound understanding of accounting principles applicable to insurance and reinsurance contracts, including Lux GAAP, IFRS and/or US GAAP.
• You are familiar with Solvency II regulatory requirements and comfortable interpreting insurance and reinsurance contracts.
• Knowledge of the Luxembourg insurance and reinsurance market would be an advantage.

Technical & Personal Skills

• You demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with financial data.
• You have advanced Excel skills and practical experience using at least one accounting software system.
• You are organised, proactive and able to work independently while maintaining a strong sense of responsibility.
• You can identify discrepancies, investigate issues and propose practical solutions.
• You communicate effectively with both financial and technical stakeholders.
• You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and can adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Languages

Fluency in English and French is essential, both written and spoken (minimum C1 level in each language).
