The Humanitarian Aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross (AICRL) operates mainly in sub-Saharan Africa so that every day, women and children are protected, live with dignity and keep or regain their autonomy. In Luxembourg, we work on raising awareness of humanitarian law among young people. Our aim is to encourage responsible behavior to contribute to a fairer world.
Our Humanitarian Aid Finance team is looking for a:
Financial Controller (M/F/D) in permanent contract (CDI), 40h/week, to start as soon as possible.
The office is located in Luxembourg-ville, Merl.
In-house title: Comptable
You will be responsible for the quality of the accounting and financial reports for the countries within your scope, in compliance with local and AICRL guidelines.
You will work in close collaboration with the country’s desks, and the expatriated administrative and finance managers, to ensure consistency between missions and the financial balance of projects and various obligations to different stakeholders.
More specifically, under the responsibility of the AICRL Financial Director, you will be in charge of:
Head office accounting management :
- Monitor AICRL payments and forward debit/credit notices;
- Participate in preparation of annual accounts;
- Participate in the preparation of various audits;
- Structure and archive documentation.
Field accounting management :
- Support teams in accounting, finance, purchasing and logistics through training and support;
- Participate in the opening of bank accounts in mission countries and monitor transactions;
- Monitor various funds (e.g. emergency funds);
- Ensure transmission of correct accounting documents;
- Verify, correct and integrate field accounting into AICRL accounting system on monthly basis, country expenditures and fund transfers requests in accordance with AICRL procedures and donors’ requirements.
Financial management of projects :
- Support the team in preparing budgets;
- Check budget records and matrices;
- Enter, monitor and maintain data in our financial management and accounting software (SAGA, Therefore...), and track movements of funds;
- Participate in the preparation of various financial reports;
- Prepare calls for funds to head office;
- Participate in project closing.
Profile :
- You have a higher education qualification with a specialization in Accounting/Control/Audit;
- You have 3-5 years of professional experience;
- You have significant experience in general and cost accounting, or experience in budget management or in Financial Audit;
- You are familiar with Luxembourg accounting rules and standards; knowledge of rules and standards in other countries (particularly those of our assignments) is an asset;
- Knowledge of basic commercial, labor and tax law is an asset;
- You are familiar with accounting and management software; knowledge of SAGA/Therefore is an asset;
- You have a good command of Pack Office, particularly Excel and its advanced functions;
- You demonstrate a high level of professional integrity;
- You have an analytical and critical mind and are able to synthesize information;
- You are rigorous, organized and problem solver;
- You are able to work both as part of a team and independently in a multicultural environment;
- You have excellent stress management skills
- You are fluent in spoken and written French and upper intermediary level inEnglish; knowledge of Luxembourgish/German is an asset.
