Description:
SolarCleano is a Luxembourg-based robotics company aiming at providing innovative robotic solutions to the solar panel cleaning industry. You will be part of a young and dynamic R&D team operating on a complete autonomous stack. As the Head of Automation, you will lead and collaborate with a talented team of robotics engineers to develop, deploy, and optimize algorithms that enable our robots to autonomously navigate and clean photovoltaic panels.
Role Overview:
As the Head of Automation, you will supervise a team of robotics engineers while actively contributing to the design, testing, and deployment of our robots. This role combines leadership, strategic vision, hands-on technical expertise and a commitment to foster collaboration and ensure the success of our autonomous solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and validation of algorithms for localization, path planning, navigation, SLAM, sensor fusion, and motion control.
- Lead and mentor a team of robotics engineers in a collaborative, results-oriented culture through a lead-by-example approach.
- Define technical strategies, set priorities, and ensure alignment with project and company objectives.
- Drive cross-team collaboration to integrate software and hardware seamlessly.
- Provide hands-on support during critical development, testing, and deployment phases to ensure the success and reliability of the autonomous stack, including tests and deployments in real outdoor environments such as operational solar installations.
- Manage project timelines, and deliverables using tools like Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Up to 25% travel required to support deployments, testing, and collaboration with external partners.
Requirements:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Robotics Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and validating embedded software for autonomous mobile robots or AGVs in real-world applications.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and managing technical teams in a collaborative environment.
- Strong project planning and management skills, including experience coordinating deliverables, managing cross-functional dependencies and allocating resources.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Proven expertise in some of the following areas: lidar point cloud processing, image detection, path planning, localization, SLAM, and sensor data fusion. Proficiency in C++, Python for embedded systems, and version control systems like Git.
Nice to Have:
- Expertise in agile or mean methodologies.
- Solid understanding of modern automation stacks, such as ROS/ROS2.
- Familiarity with Javascript and software architecture.
- Familiarity with AI algorithms and related tools applied to automation.
- French proficiency to assist communication with other teams in the company.
