Introduction
This is an opportunity to join a law firm where the Tax department is a key driver of the business, rather than a secondary practice area. You will become part of a recognised and strategically important department, handling a broad range of technical tax matters while building long-standing relationships with an international client base.
About the Client
Our client is an established European law firm with an international clientele spanning Europe, Asia and the United States. The firm advises a diverse range of clients on complex legal and tax matters and is particularly valued for the quality of its advice and the long-standing relationships it has built with clients over the years.
About the Role
As a Senior Tax Lawyer, you will advise Luxembourg and international clients on a broad range of tax matters, combining technical expertise with a practical, business-oriented approach.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Tax Advisory: Provide legal and tax advice on a wide range of Luxembourg and international tax matters, identifying risks and recommending appropriate solutions.
- VAT & Indirect Tax: Advise clients on VAT-related matters, including the interpretation of applicable rules, the tax treatment of transactions and related compliance obligations.
- Corporate & International Tax: Assist clients with corporate taxation, cross-border transactions, tax structuring and the Luxembourg tax implications of international operations.
- Technical Research & Opinions: Analyse complex tax questions and prepare legal opinions, memoranda and other technical documentation.
- Client Relationship Management: Act as a trusted adviser to clients, understand their business needs and provide clear, tailored and commercially relevant advice.
- Tax Authorities & Disputes: Assist clients in dealings with the Luxembourg tax authorities, including tax audits, disputes and other contentious matters where relevant.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across practice areas, contribute to knowledge sharing and support junior team members where appropriate.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Luxembourg lawyer registered on List I or List IV.
- 6 to 8 years of relevant professional experience gained within a Luxembourg law firm. Prior experience in a Luxembourg law firm is mandatory.
- Broad technical knowledge of Luxembourg taxation, with experience covering several tax areas, including VAT.
- Ability to analyse complex tax matters, develop practical solutions and manage files with a high degree of autonomy.
- Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills, combined with a client-oriented and commercially minded approach.
- Excellent command of both French and English, at native or near-native level.
- A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
The Offer
- Salary: €100,000-€140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Contractual status: The firm is open to both an employed arrangement and an independent professional status.
- Practice area: Join a Tax department that plays a central role in the firm's business and strategic development.
- Client exposure: Work with an established international client base, including long-standing relationships across multiple jurisdictions.
- Responsibilities: Handle a broad range of technically challenging tax matters while developing your expertise and client relationships.
If you are a Luxembourg-qualified tax lawyer looking for a broad technical role within a firm where Tax is central to the business, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
